But percentage of total market share is and largely always has been the wrong way to consider the Mac user base, at least if you’re the sort of person whose job it is to worry about developing and monetizing a user base. To wit: Mac users (on average) are better educated, have more disposable income and show much stronger brand loyalty than their PC-using brethren. Combine that with the popularity of the Apple brand in key age groups and you get a demographic that leaves the average marketing department in need of a towel and a change of pants.

Went to Big O Tires to get a flat fixed this morning. The lady working the counter was ridiculously Texan — her name was even Tammy. I love it.

New Keyboard

Susie got me one of the spiffy aluminum Apple keyboards that come with the new iMacs for Christmas (the wired version). I waited until now to break it out because I though that if they announced something earth-shattering at MacWorld I might be replacing my iMac, but that didn’t happen.

Anyway, I opened the keyboard this afternoon and have been using it for several hours, and absolutely love it. The feel is perfect, and the shortcut keys for iTunes are really handy. Most of all, it’s just so awesomely thin; it feels like the keys are embedded in the desk itself.

Now I just wonder what I’ll do about my laptop, since its shortcut keys don’t match…
