Gibibytes

I just discovered that the df -h command in Leopard (which gives information about disk use) lists sizes using binary prefixes:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/disk0s2 233Gi 104Gi 129Gi 45% /
devfs 107Ki 107Ki 0Bi 100% /dev
fdesc 1.0Ki 1.0Ki 0Bi 100% /dev
map -hosts 0Bi 0Bi 0Bi 100% /net
map auto_home 0Bi 0Bi 0Bi 100% /home
/dev/disk1s2 980Mi 848Mi 132Mi 87% /Volumes/Hilbert

For example, it lists the available space on my main drive as 129Gi, which stands for 129 gibibytes. Yes, “gibi”, not “giga”. So delightfully pedantic and nerdy! I don’t think the Tiger version was like this.
